Cryptic habitat use of white sharks in kelp forest revealed by animal-borne video
Cryptic habitat use of white sharks in kelp forest revealed by animal-borne video, is a research project that observes and analyses white shark behaviour when swimming through a kelp forest in South Africa. Soon before the paper became published, lead author Oliver Jewell contacted me to produce something original to assist with the paper's promotion.
This didn't need to communicate the results of the study, just encapsulate its themes as dramatically and engagingly as possible. I went with a digitally modelled, 3D steel sculpture of a great white shark made of kelp, inspired largely by Museum branding and jewellery advertisements.
